Our Story

Olive growing in Milas

Milasso works with Memecik olives grown in Milas. We record the harvest behind each production lot.

The olives are picked early, processed without delay and extracted below 27 °C. Each lot is measured separately for acidity, polyphenols and peroxide value.

Use the lot number on the bottle to find the harvest and analysis information for the oil you bought.

Where this oil comes from

Milasso works with farming families who have grown olives in Milas for generations. During the early harvest, we pick the olives together and press them in our own factory, using a state-of-the-art automated closed system.

The lot number on the bottle points to that record: the harvest period, the hours until pressing and the laboratory measurements.

What Is the Best Olive Oil for Drinking Daily? 5 Numbers to Check

The best olive oil for drinking is a fresh extra virgin oil with zero sensory defects, low acidity and peroxide, a recent harvest date and a measured polyphenol figure. Drinking it neat is the harshest test an oil can face: no food hides staleness, so freshness matters more than any brand or price.

Science & Health

The Power of Polyphenols

The authorised EU health claim requires at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives in a daily 20 g serving of olive oil. A total-polyphenol figure alone does not establish that this condition is met.

Reading the analysis

Polyphenol results vary by test method and lot. Read the figure together with the analysis date and method.

Food, not medicine

Olive oil can be part of a balanced diet; it should not be presented as preventing or treating disease.

The Early Harvest Difference

Harvest timing is one factor affecting polyphenol levels. Cultivar, processing time, temperature and storage also influence the result.
